Riot Rock Paper Scissors is a cute Jackbox-style party game I designed as an experiment with AI-coded game development. The party host starts a game from their computer's web browser, and everyone in the room joins on mobile! You can try it out yourself with bots if you don't have any friends around.
One game takes a few minutes. It's an automatic round-robin rock-paper-scissors tournament. In each match, you might steal, say, three points if you win with paper, but only one point if you win with rock. You must weigh your greed for points against your opponents'. One more point complicates the situation: you can both get points if you tie with one specific hand. Optimize your strategy or strike bargains while you wait for the match countdown, take your points, and hurry right along to meet your next opponent!
This game was in dire straits until my friend Jake suggested assigning points to each hand. Now I love it! Per-round points and compromises wrench the game out of auto-scroller territory into game-theory land. It encourages players to share quick emotional moments of trust or competition—that's the ice breaker I wanted to make.
